Bridge Collapses in Spain, Leaving Three Dead

(MENAFN) Three people are confirmed dead and three others remain unaccounted for after a wooden pedestrian bridge gave way at El Bocal Beach in Santander, northern Spain, on Tuesday.

Local media reports indicate the victims were part of a group of seven women hiking along a route connecting El Bocal Beach to the Spanish Institute of Ocean Sciences when the structure failed beneath them.

A seventh woman was pulled to safety and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Emergency responders have mounted a large-scale search-and-rescue operation in the aftermath, deploying helicopters, boats, and additional specialized equipment in a race against time to locate the three still missing.
